Device Parameters
PROFINET Parameters
MAC address
Each PROFINET device is assigned a globally unique device identifier at the factory. This 6-
byte long device identifier is the MAC address.
The MAC address is divided up as follows:
● 3 bytes manufacturer's ID and
● 3 bytes device identifier (consecutive number).
The MAC address can generally be read from the front on the device, e.g.: 08-00-06-6B-80-
C0.
The device can be reached via LAN using this address.
IP parameter
The IP parameters, consisting of IP address, subnet mask, and router can also be assigned
in various ways and transferred to the IO Device.
Possibilities for this are:
● The IO Controller assigns the IP parameters to the IO Device. In this case, the "Overwrite
IP parameters in device" check box must not be selected.
● The IP parameters are obtained from a DHCP server and assigned to the IO Device. In
this case, the "Overwrite IP parameters in device" check box must not be selected.
● The IP parameters are configured with Device Integration Manager and transferred to the
device. In this case, the "Overwrite IP parameters in device" check box must be selected.
Choose the IP parameters to match the configuration in the automation system. If the IP
parameters are assigned by the IO Controller in the automation system, no setting is
necessary here and the "Overwrite IP parameters in device" check box must not be
selected.
Note
Initial transfer of device name:
The initial transfer of the device name must occur via the SIMOCODE pro system
interface, since the device is not yet reachable via PROFINET due to the missing address
settings.
