Removing and replacing a rear cage
Procedure
Procedure
1. Power down all compute modules.
2. Power down the frame.
IMPORTANT:
IMPORTANT:
To ensure that the components are reinstalled in the same locations from where they were removed, note the device
bay locations before you remove them from the frame.
3. Remove all rear frame components:
a. Remove the frame link modules .
b. Remove the fans.
c. Remove the power supplies .
d. Remove the interconnect modules .
4. Remove all front frame components:
a. Remove the Composer appliance assembly.
b. Remove the front panel assembly .
c. Remove any installed compute modules.
5. From the front of the frame, use a T-25 Torx screwdriver to unscrew the six captive screws.
6. From the rear of the frame, use the handles on the rear of the cage to pull the rear cage away from the frame until the safety latch
catches.
7. Press in the safety latches, and then carefully remove the rear cage from the frame.
WARNING: After the safety latches have been defeated, be sure to support the bottom of the

rear cage when holding the rear cage. Trying to hold the rear cage using the handle after the
safety latches have been defeated can result in injury.
