CHAPTER 6 – Backup, Restore and other utilities
Instant Replay includes the ability to backup and restore, system settings, HotKey /
Bank assignments and Content. Using these built in features allow for simple
restoration of systems or cloning of systems as needed.
The following options are located in the Utility screen which can be accessed from
the main menu.
Backup
Selecting the Backup function allows the backup and restore, system settings, Hot
Key / Bank assignments and Content to an external USB storage device. System
settings and Hot Key / Bank assignments will backup in seconds. Content backup
may be very slow using this method depending on the amount of content to be
backed up.
1. Insert a USB storage device with sufficient free space into the system.
2. From the Backup menu, select the items to be backed up.
3. Select the USB storage device to be used for the backup. If the inserted
device is not listed, select RESCAN to have the system look for available USB
devices.
4. Select OK to begin the process.
Note: The system will be inoperable during this process.
Content - selection refers to clips and playlists as well as the folder structure
-
on the system.
System Settings – selection refers to the stored settings for items like record
-
and playout settings. This file is a database file constructed for use only on
the Instant Replay 3 product.
Hot Key Mappings – selection refers to the Bank and Hot Keys assignments.

This is also contained in a database file that is only usable on the Instant
Replay 3 product.
Once the process is completed, the USB device can be removed.
Restore
On certain management or selector screen, a search field is available. Typing a
letter or
WARNING: This process will overwrite all information with the settings or files being
restored.
WARNING: Do not power off the system during the update process. The system
may be rendered unusable should this happen.
