5.2 TROUBLESHOOTING

Before starting troubleshooting, confirm that all cable connectors are properly engaged.
Before replacing a microcomputer, confirm also the items shown below.
In a case where a failure of ERP UCOM
(IC4502) is suspected
Failure in startup and in the communication system
Failure in the power system
In the following diagnostic procedure, because power will be forcibly supplied even if any power circuit is abnormal,
circuit that uses the power supply may fail if power supply
diagnostic procedure so that the unit will not remain forcibly powered.
No startup after pushing the Power switch.
Before starting checking the power system, be
sure to check if each power IC is short-circuited
with GND, referring to "10.69 VOLTAGES."
Confirmation of
No short-circuit
power-failure detection
Check the MASTER REC LED.
Flashing in red
Disconnect the AC power cord from the product then remove
R346 (0 Ω) from the MAIN Assy. Reconnect the AC power cord
then set the Power switch to ON to monitor each power IC.
IMPORTANT: Because the voltage monitoring circuit is disabled,
disconnect the AC power cord within several seconds.
If the MASTER REC LED is flashing in red or the voltage of FAULT-DET is 0 V, it is recommended that the following circuits be confirmed first:
• Peripheral circuits of IC6605/6606 (V+18A/V-18A and V+7R5HP/V-7R5HP generation circuits)
• Q6603, Q6605, D6603, D6606, Q6602, Q6604, D6602, D6605
Failure in startup and in the
communication system
Startup is not completed.
After the Power switch is set to ON, the
startup procedure stops in mid-course, with
the message "Connect USB storage device
to top USB1 port" displayed on the LCD.
Startup is not completed.
After the Power switch is set to ON, the

Confirm the voltage of ERP UCOM. And, confirm if the reset cancellation
is performed normally.
UCOM Assy : V+3R3E (3.3 V)
IC4502-12 pin (RST) : 3.3 V
If no problem, replace ERP UCOM.
If the voltage is abnormal, confirm the peripheral circuit of ERP UCOM.

Light off
Check the voltage of FAULT-DET.
0 V
Check if there is no problem in the connection
wires between each boards. If no problem,
check V+12E, V+5E and V+3E, and replace
the defective parts.
Check the voltage at each block.
Check the circuits or power ICs that use the
power supply with abnormal voltage.
Perform updating of the firmware.
See the section on "Updating of the firmware
does not start".
Communication among MAIN UCOM (IC701) and MIXER UCOM (IC2302) on MAIN Assy,
ERP UCOM (IC4502) and PANELM UCOM (IC4505) on UCOM Assy have not been established.
Check the connection between MAIN Assy and UCOM Assy.
If no problem, replace MAIN Assy.
If it still not improve, replace UCOM Assy.

the voltage monitoring circuit is suspected.
Check if the voltage value is within the normal
range, referring to "10.69 VOLTAGES".
Reattach R346 (0 Ω) to the MAIN Assy.
(For enabling the voltage-monitoring function)
Replace the defective parts after checking
that the product operates properly.
Startup has been
completed properly.
Failure of previous updating of the firmware
was the cause. (Power failure occurred
during previous updating.)
