The System Knee Joints with Remote Cable-Release must be used with the
513D19=3.8x14 Compression Spring which holds the 17Y88 Wedge Lock
against the 30U90 Lower Joint Section. The 17Y88 Wedge Lock is released
via the 30Z22 Lock Rocker by pulling on the 21A18=2 Perlon Cable.
4 Processing
Please consider the higher structural loading on the Ottobock System Joints
due to different clinical parameters, such as forefoot lever length or angu-
lar limb deformities which must be accomodated in the orthotic alignment.
Insert the 17B38, 17B39, 17B40, 17B41, 17B84, 17B85 System Side Bars
or the 17Y105, 17Y107 System Lamination Bars as connection elements
into the Knee Joint connection channels. The use of 636W28 Ottobock Spe-
cial Adhesive is required to stabilize the bars in the connection channels.
To do this, degrease the attachment surfaces using 634A1 Ottobock Thin-
ner and Solvent. Mix the contents of the two tubes containing special adhe-
sive and hardener (included), and apply to the joint's connection channels.
Insert the System Bars and fasten in the 501T7=7.5x9xM5 Phillips Head
Screws. Allow three to four hours for the adhesive to dry prior to use; final
bonding strength will be achieved after about 16 hours.
The 513D19=3.8x14 Compression Spring (3) must always installed in the
upper joint section (1), even during trial fittings.
The Ottobock System of Joint Bars and System Joints are made of steel that
is both rust-resistant and acid-resistant. We recommend final buffing and
polishing for increased protection against corrosion and 618T40 Sintering
Powder for coating.
Note
Do not apply heat in excess of 300°C (572° F), or the material's temper
will be destroyed.
Hardened joint parts should not be heat-treated.
Attention!
Before delivering the orthosis to the patient, make sure that both
locks are parallel and engaging safely. Instruct the patient on the
proper handling of the orthosis.
