You can adjust the reference level setting of the analog bar meter
using the up and down arrows. When you press the SHIFT +
your CLI-1450 automatically sets the optimum reference level for
you.

When you are tuned to a channel, both the video and audio carriers of
the channel are measured and displayed simultaneously. The differ-
ence between the video and audio carriers (DVA) is also shown. The
channel number, type and label for the channel that you are currently
tuned to appear in the upper right-hand portion of the screen. You can
use the left or right arrows to tune to the previous or next enabled
channel in the plan. You can also use the numeric entry keys to tune
directly to the desired channel. Press the
frequency.

soft key toggles between frequency and channel tuning.
When you choose frequency tuning, CLI-1450 assumes a CW and
readings are compensated as such.
