VADB feature description
Topics:
VADB phone line connection
VADB is an optional backup feature that allows the satellite router to continue
sending and receiving user traffic if the satellite link fails or degrades below an
acceptable threshold. When VADB is active, the satellite router sends traffic
over the Internet through an ISP instead of over the air through the satellite.
VADB is available only on certain satellite router models, including the HN9500.
The HN9500 includes an internal telephone modem that supports VADB by
providing a telephone line backup link to the Internet.
VADB automatically switches the HN9500 to the terrestrial dialup telephone
network with minimal interruption and loss of customer traffic. VADB introduces
no additional load on the satellite router and does not affect any existing features.
However, because it uses a temporary dialup connection, the satellite router
sends and receives traffic at a slower rate. When conditions allow, the router
automatically returns to normal operation.
