12. Connection to the computer

a) Reading data
The surveillance camera has a mini USB port, which serves to read the data of the internal memory or the inserted
SD card.
First install the software on the CD before connecting the surveillance camera to the PC.
If the installation program does not start automatically, start the program "Autorun.exe" in the main
directory of the CD.
If you want to use the surveillance camera outdoors, we recommend using an SD memory card,
because a USB cable (without repeater) may only have a maximum length of approx. 5m.
After the software installation, the surveillance camera can be connected via the supplied USB cable to a free USB
port of your PC.
Windows recognises the new hardware and completes the driver installation.
A new drive appears in the file manager. You can use this to read the data in the memory of the surveillance camera
or the SD memory card.

b) Function as webcam

You can also use the surveillance camera as a common web camera.
This function can be used to set the camera range, which is later on recorded.
To activate webcam mode, please proceed as follows:
• Switch off the power supply of the surveillance camera. The data in the internal memory is lost in this process (SD
card data is preserved) along with the settings for time and date, for example.
• Install the driver of the enclosed CD if you have not already done so (see chapter 12 a).
• After installation of the driver, connect the USB port of the surveillance camera with a free USB port on your PC.
Now the hardware detection detects a webcam, and the driver installation is completed.
The mains voltage for the surveillance camera may not be turned on, otherwise webcam operation does
not work. The USB port of the computer supplies the webcam with power. It must be able to provide
a current of 500mA, e.g. the USB port of a computer or a USB hub with power pack unit).
• You can use the provided software to test the webcam function (e.g. "Ulead-Photo-Explorer" or "Amcap" in the start
menu).
Before switching the mains voltage of the surveillance camera back on, separate the USB connection
between the computer and the surveillance camera.
