Fault handling

Symptoms and possible causes
Engine can't be stopped.
Starter motor does not rotate or rotates slowly
Engine does not start.
Engine starts then stops
Engine is difficult to start
Engine does not reach correct speed at wide open
throttle (WOT)
Engine knocks
Engine Runs Rough
Engine vibrates
High fuel consumption
Engine exhaust smoke is black
Engine exhaust smoke is blue or white
Oil pressure is too low
Coolant temperature too high
No or poor charging
1 Flat / poor batteries
2 Poor contact/open circuit in electrical wiring
3 Main switch turned off
4 Engine control not in neutral
5 Check fuses at engine.
6 Check fuel level
7 Blocked fuel filter/supply pump
8 Air in the fuel system.
9 Water in fuel indicator
10 Boat abnormally loaded
11 Fouled hull/propeller
12 Engine speed control wrongly adjusted
13 Insufficient air supply
14 Coolant temperature too high
