10 Maintenance

In order to ensure proper functioning, the Transferpette® electronic should be serviced at regular in-
tervals and cleaned as necessary.
10.1 Disassembling/cleaning (up to 1,000 μl)
a.
Check the pipette tip cone for damage.
b.
Inspect the piston and seal for contamination.
c.
Check the device for leaks.
We recommend using the leak detector of BRAND, the BRAND PLT unit. As an alternative to this, aspi-
rate a sample and hold the instrument vertically for approx. 10 s. If a drop forms on the pipette tip, re-
fer to Troubleshooting.

Unscrew the pipette shaft (S) from the handle.

Pull the pipette shaft off the handle. The pipette shaft is

attached to the handle by a magnet.

Unscrew the upper part of the ejector unit (A) from the
pipette shaft.
d.
Pull out the shaft (B, C and D) from the lower part of the
ejector unit (E).

Unscrew the piston unit (B).
Do not disassemble the piston unit (B) any further.
f.
Remove the seal with spring (C).
g.
Clean the parts shown with a soap solution or iso-
propanol, and then rinse with distilled water.

Dry the parts (max. 120 °C/248 °F).
i.
Grease piston and seal with a very thin layer of supplied
silicone grease.
j.
Reassemble the cooled parts in reverse order. Only
hand-tighten the piston unit and the upper part of the
ejector unit (A, B).

Carry out reference run: (rEF), see Reference run
(rEF), p. 68.
