The screen for adjusting the interferometer has the following features:
•
A bar graph. The greater the energy throughput, the longer the bar.
•
The bar is a different color at the right-hand end. This shows the greatest
length that the bar has reached.
•
A number above the bar. The number is in arbitrary units, related to the
amount of energy reaching the detector.
In the following steps, you adjust the interferometer so that the energy is
maximized.
