Working with Clips on a Computer
The software used to save clips to a computer depends on the movie format of the clips: Use Data Import Utility
to save MP4 clips and Canon XF Utility and the Canon XF plugins to save XF-AVC clips.
Saving MP4 Clips
Use Data Import Utility to save your MP4 clips. Refer to PIXELA's website below to download the software and
check the latest information. For other inquires regarding the software, consult a Canon Service Center.
Saving MP4 Clips Using Data Import Utility
• Save MP4 clips to the computer using a card reader.
• Join MP4 relay clips (A 50) that were saved on separate SD cards, and save them as a single clip.
• Join MP4 clips split at the 4 GB maximum file size, and save them as a single clip.

IMPORTANT
• Before using Data Import Utility to save MP4 clips on the computer, do not access or manipulate the files on
the SD card with other software. Failing to do so may result in not being able to save the files with Data Import
Utility.
Saving XF-AVC Clips
You can use Canon XF Utility to save and organize XF-AVC clips on a computer and the Canon XF plugins to
easily use the clips directly from major non-linear editing (NLE) applications. The software and plugins are
available as free downloads from your local Canon Web site. Check the download page for the system
requirements and the latest information about the software and supported non-linear editing (NLE) applications.
You will find detailed instructions about installing and uninstalling the software in the "Read This First" PDF file
included in the compressed file you will download from the Web site. For details about using the software, refer
to the instruction manual (PDF file) that is installed with the software.
Canon XF Utility: Software application that allows you to save XF-AVC clips on a computer, check, play back and
organize XF-AVC clips and grab still frames from XF-AVC clips. The software is available for Windows and
macOS (OS X).
Canon XF Plugin for Avid Media Access: Plugin that allows you to easily import XF-AVC clips from a card or a
local folder in the computer to the compatible version of Avid Media Composer (an NLE application compatible
with Avid Media Access), directly from within the application. The plugin is available for the Windows and macOS
(OS X) versions of Avid Media Composer.
