3.2.8 PARKING BRAKE

The parking brake is for immobilising trailer while standing motionless. System construction is
shown in Figure (3.13). The brake crank mechanism (2), is welded on the left lower
longitudinal frame on the front of the trailer. Wheel axle expander arm levers (1) are
connected to the lever (5) by means of cable II (4) through guide rollers (6). Lever (5) is
connected to the brake crank mechanism (2) by means of steel cable I (3).
Tensioning cable I (3) (turning the crank mechanism clockwise), causes deflection of the
lever (5) and tension of cable II (4) causing a deflection of the brake expander arms (1),
which immobilize the trailer by parting the brake shoes.
