To determine the status of these links, check the Link 1 and 2 LEDs on the
front panel as described in Chapter 3.
Connecting an ANG-1000
The ANG-1000 is equipped with two 8-pin modular RJ-45 Ethernet ports
labeled Trusted and External. The Trusted port should be connected to a
network segment residing behind a firewall or a router that provides network
protection. The External port should be connected to an Ethernet network
segment residing outside a firewall. In this configuration, the ANG performs
some routing functions and ensures that only GRE packets from authorized
sources pass into the corporate network.
To connect ANG-1000 Ethernet ports, perform the following steps:

Plug the orange, straight-through Ethernet cable supplied with the
ANG into the EXTERNAL port as shown in Figure 20.

Plug the opposite end of this cable into a wall jack, patch panel, or
hub linked to an unprotected network segment (outside a firewall).

Plug the blue, straight-through Ethernet cable supplied with the ANG
into the Trusted port as shown in Figure 21.
