How to stop the engine

Automatic car
Stop the vehicle completely
Set the shift lever to P (P. 133)
Apply the parking brake (P. 141)
Press the "engine start / stop" switch
Slowly take your foot off the brake pedal and make sure the
smart entry and start system indicator lights are off.
Manual car
Stop the vehicle completely
Set the shift lever to N (P. 139)
Apply the parking brake (P. 141)
Press the "engine start / stop" switch
Slowly take your foot off the clutch and brake pedals and
check that the smart entry & start system indicator is off.
