5-2. Emergency measures
When the shift lever cannot shift (automatic car)
If the shift lever cannot be shifted while the brake pedal is depressed, there
may be a problem with the shift lock system (a device that prevents erroneous
operation of the shift lever). Please have a Toyota dealer check it immediately.
However, as a temporary measure, you can shift the shift lever in the
following ways.
Apply the parking brake
Vehicles without smart entry & start system: Set
the engine switch to "ACC"
Vehicles equipped with smart entry & start system:
Set the "engine start / stop" switch to the accessory mode
Step on the brake pedal
Press the shift lock release button
While pressing the button
You can shift the bar.
