Before Starting Determine escape path
and remove all obstacles.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, avoid
contact with the cutting attachment.
Check the cutting attachment at regular
short intervals during operation or
immediately if there is a noticeable
change in cutting behavior:
Stopping the Engine
Wait for the cutting attachment to
come to a complete standstill.
Check condition (clean, free from
rust, properly sharpened) and
secure mounting, look for cracks.
Keep a check on sharpness and
wear limits.
To check and sharpen the cutting
attachment, observe the sharpening
instructions and wear limits on the
packaging – keep cutting attachment
packaging in a safe place.
WARNING
Do not continue using a damaged,
cracked, warped or worn cutting
attachment – replace it immediately. Do
not attempt to repair, weld or straighten
the cutting attachment – risk of
breakage.
In the event of contact with foreign
objects, check the cutting attachment for
signs of damage.
Opening the throttle while the cutting
attachment is blocked increases the
load and reduces engine speed. The
clutch then slips continuously and this
causes overheating and damage to

important components (e.g. clutch,
polymer housing components) – and this
can increase the risk of injury from the
cutting attachment moving while the
engine is idling.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, shut off the
engine before changing the cutting
attachment.
After Finishing Work
Always shut off the engine before
leaving the unit unattended.
Holding and Controlling the Power Tool
Always hold the unit firmly with both
hands – right hand on the control handle,
left hand on the drive tube – even if you
are left-handed. Wrap your fingers
around the control handle and drive
tube.
Only extend the telescoping shaft
(depending on model) as far as
necessary for the cutting work that
needs to be done.
Vibrations
The function of this har-
vester causes vibrations.
Some of these vibrations
are transmitted to the
handles. Therefore, the
permissible period of
daily usage for one oper-
ator is restricted.
Recommendation: Several persons
should share the day's work with the
harvester by rotating at regular intervals.
No general recommendation can be
given for the length of usage because it
depends on several factors.
The period of usage is prolonged by:
Hand protection (wearing warm
gloves)
Work breaks
The period of usage is shortened by:
Any personal tendency to suffer
from poor circulation (symptoms:
frequently cold fingers, tingling
sensations).
Low outside temperatures.
The force with which the handles
are held (a tight grip restricts
circulation).
