19 – Locating Communication and Charging Bases
NOTE:
The Global Payments Short-Range Wireless – iWL250B base
is available in two (2) models: receiving base and charging
base. The Global Payments Short-Range Wireless – iWL250B
device comes with either a receiving base or charging base,
depending on the model ordered.
The following guidelines help you to choose where to place the base(s):
1.
Radio coverage may not be satisfactory if the receiving base is close to a radio communication obstacle. See below table
for list of potential obstacles:
Common Radio Communication Obstacles
Microwave ovens (minimum
•
distance: 3 m or 9.8 ft.)
Portable phones,
•
mobile/cellular phones,
security radios, walkie-talkies
Mirrors
•
•
Metallic blinds
Steel cabinets
•
2.
A communication base needs a telephone or Ethernet line (depending on the configuration) and a power socket nearby.
3.
A charging base needs a power socket nearby.
4.
Two communication bases cannot be placed within two meters (6.5 feet) of each other. Additional communication bases
should be placed as far as possible from already-installed bases – on the opposite side of the dining room, for example.
5.
Terminals and bases should stay where they can be monitored by the staff.
20 – Installation Procedure
Do not place the terminal in an area with high temperatures, vibrations, dust, dampness or electromagnetic radiation (from a
