Getting position information using the GPS

The GPS is built-in the camera. You can record the position information using GPS.
During playback, the recorded information can be displayed on the screen. For details, refer to "Mode check display" (page 146).
Set [ON] in the main menu → [OTHER FUNCTIONS] → [GPS].
f [GPS] flashes on the LCD monitor and viewfinder screens and the camera gets prepared for positioning.
f Once positioning completes, [GPS] illuminates and GPS signal reception is indicated by bars in four levels.
f If [HOLD] is set in the main menu → [OTHER FUNCTIONS] → [P.OFF GPS DATA], the GPS position information can be retained.
f Longitude, latitude, and date/time can be viewed in the mode check.

NOTE
t If it cannot position even after waiting several minutes, it means that the GPS signals are weak and difficult to receive.
t Position in the open space with a clear view of the sky.
t The followings are locations where the signals from the GPS satellite cannot be properly received. Thus, you may not be able to position or you have
large margin of errors.
- Indoors
- Near buildings or a canyon of buildings
- In underground shopping areas
- In forests
- While moving in trains or automobiles
- Inside tunnels
