Risk of injury
Check the seat belts regularly for damage.
You should never modify the seat belts your-
self. They might not function properly any
more.
Have damaged seat belts or seat belts sub-
jected to a load in an accident replaced at a
qualified specialist workshop.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you have
such work carried out at an SLR Service
Centre, since it has the specialist knowledge
and tools required for the work to be done.
In particular, work relevant to safety or on
safety-related systems must be carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop.

Seat belt warning for driver and pas-
G
senger
The < seat belt warning lamp in the in-
strument cluster reminds you that all vehi-
cle occupants should fasten their seat
belts. The < seat belt warning lamp
may light up continuously or it may blink.
Additionally there may be a warning tone.
The < seat belt warning lamp goes out
and the warning tone ceases when the
driver and the passenger have fastened
their seat belt.
For certain countries only: independent of
whether the driver or the passenger have
already fastened their seat belts, the
< seat belt warning lamp lights up for
six seconds after the engine has been
started. The < seat belt warning lamp
goes out when both the driver and the pas-
senger have fastened their seat belt.
You will find further information about the
< seat belt warning lamp ( page 294).
