ABS
(Anti-lock Braking System)
Prevents the wheels from locking when
you brake, allowing you to continue
steering.
ACL
(Airbrake/Central Locking)
Controls the locking mechanism of the
Airbrake and the central locking sys-
tem.
ASSYST
(Active Service System)
Service indicator of the –>on-board
computer, which displays when the
next service is due.
BAS
(Brake Assist System)
System for shortening the stopping dis-
tance in hazardous situations, activat-
ed by the driver depressing the brake
pedal rapidly.
Belt drive
Drive connection from the engine to
the engine accessories such as the al-
ternator or the air conditioning com-
pressor.
CAC
(Customer Assistance Centre)
Daimler Customer Service Centre.
Technical terms
CAN system
(Controller Area Network)
Uses vehicle or environmental factors
to control certain functions of your ve-
hicle, such as the central locking and
transmits them to the ->on-board com-
puter. The principle upon which this
system works is the interconnection of
all the vehicle's electronic systems.
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Number determined by the manufac-
turer and affixed to the body, by which
each vehicle can be clearly identified.
