6.6.3. Upgrade Firmware

TCP3 is equipped with the ability to upgrade or downgrade its firmware using 3 different methods:
1. Remotely using the TCP3Config tool as covered in section 5.11
2. Remotely from the TCP3 System web page as covered in this section.
3. Locally via a USB flash drive as covered in section 7.1
Additionally TCP3 has the ability to upgrade the firmware of the attached TWN4 card reader.

6.6.3.1. Upgrade TCP3 Firmware

The System page shows the current version of firmware along with a drag and drop window to place the
upgrade file. Note that the upgrade file "<STD....zip>" must be submitted as the compressed zip file which
was extracted from the AdminPack downloaded from Elatec.com.
Drag and drop the zip file into the "Select Firmware" box or click in the box and then navigate to the location
where the .zip file is stored then select the file. The act of dragging and dropping the file or selecting "Open"
from the Windows file selection window will initiate the programming activity.
When performing a remote firmware upgrade, the TCP3 LEDs will blink in the same manner as they do with
a USB upgrade where they blink a pattern to indicate the various states in the upgrade process. Remote
upgrade will first send the upgrade file to the converter and will then present a pop up "Upgrading". The
pop up will remain until the converter has rebooted at which time it is ready for use.
6.6.3.2. Upgrade TWN4 Card Reader Configuration
This section enables users to remotely upgrade the firmware of a single TWN4 reader which is connected
via USB to the converter. The System page shows the current version of TWN4 firmware along with a drag
and drop window to place the upgrade .bix file.
The Product designation for example: TWN4/B1.06/CKF3.20/STD2.02/PI indicates the type of TWN4
reader along with its current firmware and installed application. Prior to the actual upgrade the user must
have created a binary download configuration file using the AppBlaster tool. The output of this tool is a
.bix file. Please contact Elatec support if help is needed to select or create an appropriate .bix file for this
reader.
