5. Configuration via TCP3 Config

This information is available from the solution provider. The TCP Unique Device ID and TCP Device Auth
Code will be included in the body of the request to the Web Service Address.
If OAuth Client Credentials authorization is selected the Client ID and Client secret are required to be
entered. In addition network addresses will need to be supplied for the OAuth Token Grant, OAuth To-
ken Revoke and Web Service Address. This information is available from the solution provider. When
TCP3 connects to the Web Service Address the OAuth access token will be included in the HTTP request
header. Request body content will also contain information such as the TCP3's IP address and MAC
address.
An additional capability enabled via web services is the ability of local or cloud servers to respond to the
TCP3 Web Service request with additional information. For example the response could instruct TCP3 to
enable or disable one or both of the external IO outputs or to download and send a file to a connected
printer. Contact Elatec for more information on these capabilities.
The remaining parameters control the behavior of the port during data transfer.
There are two connection options; Connect on any character and Connect on a specific character.
The factory default is "Connect on any character" which will open a connection to the server and leave it
open until it receives a terminating character. If no terminator is received, it will close the port at the default
10 second timeout.

5.4.3.2. Connect on any character

The preferred configuration is to open a connection when any character is detected from the card reader
or pin keypad. These devices do not have a predefined "start" character so are best configured to open the
connection on any character. That first character is almost always real data so it should be sent and not
discarded. Data is queued in the converter and held until the specified disconnect character is received or
the time out expires. The entire data string is then sent in one network message.
