BLINDHEM STITCH
Settings : Presser foot -
Blind stitch foot
: Thread tension control: 5
The blindhem stitch is primarily used for creating
nearly invisible hems on curtains, trousers, skirts,
etc.
-Regular blind stitch for normal woven
fabrics
-Elastic blind stitch for soft, stretchable
fabrics
1. With matching thread finish the raw edge. On
fine fab ic turn up and press a small ½" (1.3cm)
or less hem. On medium to heavyweight
fabrics overcast the fabric's raw edge.
2. Now fold the fabric as illustrated with the
wrong side up.
3. Place the fabric under the foot. Turn the
handwheel towards you (counter-clockwise)
by hand until the needle swings fully to the
left. It should just pierce the fold of the fabric.
NOTE: In addition to the adjustment on the
foot, the stitch width control can be used.
The stitch width control changes the swing
of the needle for a narrower or wider stitch.
Sew slowly, guiding the fabric carefully along
the edge of the guide.
4. When completed, the stitching is almost
invisible on the right side of the fabric.
NOTE: It takes practice to sew blind hems.
Do a test sew first.

Il punto per orlo invisibile è utilizzato principalmente
per eseguire orli a scomparsa su tende, pantaloni,
gonne e simili.
- Punto per orlo invisibile su tessuti non
elasticizzati (ago a sinistra)
- Punto per orlo invisibile su tessuti
elasticizzati (ago a sinistra oppure a destra)
1. Eseguire un orlo di rifinitura sul bordo del tessuto.
Su tessuti leggeri lasciare un margine di 1,3 cm;
su tessuti medi e pesanti lasciare un margine
superiore in base alle necessità.
2. Piegare il tessuto come illustrato nella figura
sopra (il rovescio del tessuto deve rimanere in alto).
3. . Posizionare il tessuto sotto il piedino.
Ruotare il volantino verso di sè (in senso antiorario)
fino a quando l'ago raggiunge il punto più a sinistra
della sua corsa. L'ago dovrebbe pizzicare una fibra
piccolissima nel tessuto.
N O T E : oltre alla regolazione che può
essere effettuata sulla guida del piedino, si
può intervenire anche attraverso la regola-
zione della larghezza punto che stabilisce
il punto in cui l'ago andrà a pizzicare il
tessuto quando si sposta verso sinistra.
Cucire lentamente guidando il tessuto sul
bordo della guida del piedino.
4. Quando l'operazione sarà terminata, sul dritto del
tessuto non dovrebbero vedersi i punti di cucitura.
NOTE: l'esecuzione dell'orlo invisibile
richiede molta pratica; esercitarsi su tessuti
campione prima di eseguirlo sul capo finale.
