Checking the battery
Check the battery as follows.
Caution symbols

The meanings of each caution sym-
bol on the top of the battery are as
follows:
No smoking, no naked
flames, no sparks
Shield eyes
Keep away from children
Battery acid
Note operating instructions
Explosive gas
Battery exterior

Make sure that the battery termi-
nals are not corroded and that there
are no loose connections, cracks,
or loose clamps.

Checking battery fluid
■
 Type A
Check that the level is between the
"UPPER LEVEL/max." and
"LOWER LEVEL/min." lines.
A "UPPER LEVEL/max." line
B "LOWER LEVEL/min." line
Add distilled water before the fluid level
drops below the "LOWER LEVEL/min."
line.

Type B
Check that the fluid level is above
the "LOWER LEVEL" line.
