PCI Bus Signaling on the CompactPCI bus

IXP/CPCI-9120 supports universal signaling, thereby allowing it to be inserted into 3.3 V or 5
V backplanes.

Hot Swap Support

IXP/CPCI-9120 supports full hot swap as described in PICMG 2.1 R2.0 (CompactPCI Hot
Swap Specification).
Note: Live insertion or extraction of a system slot board is not defined by the PICMG
2.1 R2.0 (CompactPCI Hot Swap Specification), and therefore is not supported on the
IXP/CPCI-9120.

Packet Switching Backplane

IXP/CPCI-9120 functions as a dual node board in a packet switching backplane. The Intel®
82546GB Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet Controller described earlier provides the dual PICMG
2.16 links.

Programmable devices

BootROM Flash

The IXP/CPCI-9120 provides 4 MB of BootROM Flash. Support for up to 8 MB of BootROM
Flash is provided on the IXP/CPCI-9120.

User Flash

An Intel StrataFlash is used to provide 16 MB of User Flash. Up to 32 MB of User Flash can
be accommodated.

IBMU

System management functionality as described in PCIMG 2.9 R1.0 is achieved through the
Motorola GmbH IBMU building block (R1.2).
IBMU is a functional unit that provides remote sensing and remote management functionality
according to the IPMI specification v1.0.
IBMU also includes a supply voltage generation, a watchdog and an interface for on-board
supply voltage and NPU temperature measurement.
