2) Insert the foot stirrup into the dummy cover.
3) Place the dummy cover and the inserted foot stirrup on the lamination
dummy.
4) Insert the screw through the dummy cover, the foot stirrup and the lamin­
ation dummy and affix it to the alignment adapter.
5) Seal the dummy with Plastaband and fill hollows with Dacron felt.
6) NOTICE! Align the marking of the foot stirrup in the neutral zero
position with the marking of the counterpart. In doing so, the foot
stirrup must be positioned such that the ankle movement in dor­
siflexion and plantar flexion permits the full range of motion.
7) Laminate the orthosis.
8) Cut free and remove the lamination dummy.
5.2 Assembly
Mounting the foot stirrup

Joint screw
1) Insert the foot stirrup with the axial washers into the basic piece. Use
one axial washer per side.
2) Check whether the foot component can be moved smoothly and without
play. Use axial washers of varying thicknesses if necessary.
3) Make sure that the axial washers prevent direct contact between the met­
al basic piece and the foot stirrup.
4) Insert the joint screw and the joint nut and secure the screw connection
with Loctite® 241 and the corresponding torque.
Information on axial washers
1) Use the axial washers in accordance with the recommendation (see fol­
lowing table).
2) In case of play in the m–l direction or resistance in flexion/exten­
sion: Replace the axial washers with thicker or thinner washers until the
orthosis joint moves as desired.
