6.1.3 Replacing the SPD in a PDC

Prerequisites
Do not replace an SPD during a thunderstorm.



Preparations
Tools: Phillips screwdriver, flat-head screwdriver, electroprobe
Materials: spare SPD
Documents required: PDC user manual
Skill requirement: electrician's work permit
Procedure
Step 1 Remove the protective panel of the SPD.
Avoid touching any charged body when removing the panel.
Step 2 Switch off the SPD circuit breaker.
Step 3 Detect the L1, L2, L3, and N voltages to the PE using an electroprobe, and verify that the
faulty SPD module has no voltage before replacing the faulty SPD module.

Issue 02 (2017-01-10)
After the MDU is replaced, you need to load the configurations. If the configuration file cannot be
exported from the faulty MDU, send the model bar code of the faulty MDU to Huawei technical service
to obtain help.
An SPD is faulty.
A spare SPD of the same model is available and functional.
