Parallel Mode

If you are using the parallel port to connect the printer to a host computer,
you can select a parallel port mode. The parallel port mode determines the
method of communication used between the host and the printer.
The default setting is Auto mode. Auto mode attempts to communicate via
an ECP (Extended Capabilities Port) connection. If it cannot communicate via
this method, it will automatically switch to standard mode, which uses a
common Centronics method of communication.
The supplied parallel or high-speed IEEE-1284 parallel cable should be used
to ensure reliable performance.
To select a parallel mode:

If the printer is in a Ready state, press the PRINT/PAUSE key to pause
the printer.
