Diagnostics Overview

This chapter provides detailed information on diagnostic tests on the SC 800 T3 DSU can be
initiated by the network manager via an SNMP controller, by the DTE via the HSSI port, or by the
network. Basic procedure for any diagnostic test is provided in Chapter 3.
Before You Begin
You should test the equipment when it is first installed to verify correct installation. After the
equipment is in service, use the diagnostic tests to diagnose any problems that occur in the operation
of the DSU or the data communications system. Applicable diagnostic tests are timed. The front
panel TM LED will illuminate for all tests.
Table 4-1
lists each diagnostic test and how it can be initiated. Detailed information for each test,
including data path diagrams are provided after the table.
