SC800 T3 Operation
Alarm Mask Configuration Screen
At the SC800 T3 Alarm Configuration menu, type 1 to access the Alarm Mask Configuration
subscreen. At this screen you can configure the Network, Threshold, DTE and Unit alarms for
reporting, and view the current state (Reported or Masked) of the alarms. The SC800 T3 DSU also
accumulates alarm counts which can be displayed by the SNMP controller. The default settings for
LOS, OOF, and AIS is Reported; for all other alarms, the default setting is Masked.

Alarm Configuration Procedures
1. At the Alarm Mask Configuration screen, type the selection number of the option you intend
to change and then press Enter. A highlight appears on the current setting field for the
corresponding alarm.
2. Use the arrow keys to toggle the selected field between the Masked and Reported settings.
When the field displays the desired setting, press Enter.
3. The cursor returns to the Select field at the bottom of the screen. Repeat steps 1 - 3 for each
alarm state you need to change.
4. After all required changes have been made, type S to Save & Update Unit and then press
Enter. The new alarm states will go into effect in the DSU immediately.
If you decide not to put your changes into effect, type 0 and then press Enter to discard
your changes and return to previous menu.
5. If you have set any Threshold alarms from Masked to Reported, you must establish threshold
criteria for reporting those alarms. Press Enter to return to the Alarm Configuration Menu.
