Slide 432
The width of the nip of between the hot roller and pressure roller is 15.9 mm and
is not adjusted in the field.
The width of the nip is adjusted manually at the factory with a screwdriver by
raising and lowering the pressure roller. (This method is the same as the
Taurus.)
Fusing Pressure - 1
This mechanism raises and
lowers the pressure roller.
The pressure roller is pulled
away slightly to widen the
nip for thick paper and to
prevent a rise in temperature.
At the start of a job, the
pressure roller lift motor [A]
rotates two cams [B] under
the pressure roller in the
lower unit [C] to lift it against
the fusing belt and hot roller.
At the end of the job, the lift
motor rotates the cams again
to lower the pressure roller.
