Rear Oil Seal Replacement Procedure

1. Required parts and tools used

Part names and tools used
Oil seal
Oil seal press t jig
Flywheel stopper
Torque wrench
Flat-blade screwdriver
Socket wrench
General tools
Plastic hammer
Rags

2. Preparation for work

(1) See "1. Safety Precautions" and "2. Preparation for work" of "Basic Operation" in this manual.

3. Remove the ywheel

(1) Attach the stopper to the ywheel from the upper
side of the housing while aligning it with the groove
on the ring gear. Spread rags beneath the rear
housing. (Figure 1)
(2) Loosen and remove the ywheel bolts while
supporting the socket on the socket wrench with a
hand. (Figure 2)

Caution
To prevent the ywheel from falling out when removing the
ywheel bolts, leave two of the bolts in a state in which two
or three turns is still required to remove them.
(3) Insert at-blade screwdrivers to the right and left
of the ywheel, and remove the ywheel from the
crankshaft housing while twisting it.
(4) Remove the ywheel stopper and the remaining 2
bolts, and then take out the ywheel.

4. Remove the oil seal

(1) Place a at-bladed screwdriver at a 45 degrees
angle with the blade at the top of the oil seal,
and strike it with an iron hammer. Being careful
to avoid touching the crankshaft with the tip of
the screwdriver, use the screwdriver as a lever to
remove the oil seal by pushing it forward. (Figure 3)
Caution
Take care to avoid damaging the crankshaft and retainer.
