1 Warning and safety information
PerioScan, the first ultrasonic unit with an integrated fine
touch. It not only removes calculus, but detects it as well.
Thanks to the newly developed, extremely gentle treat-
ment method, the risk that bacteria responsible for peri-
odontitis can accumulate is greatly reduced. At the same
time, the healthy tooth surface is optimally preserved.
This system is intended for dental use in combination
with a Sirona PerioSonic ultrasonic instrument.
The detection function is suitable only for treatment in
the subgingival range.
Detection is not possible on the following surfaces:
enamel, caries and restorations.
The Sirona Dental Systems PerioScan is an ultrasonic
scaler that aids in the recognition of calculus and
intended for use in the following dental and periodontal
applications:
For removal of supragingival calculus
For detection and removal of subgingival calculus
For periodontal therapy
For preparing proximal cavities (micro-preparation)
For seating tooth-colored inlays and onlays with
highly thixotropic dual-curing cements
For root canal irrigation
For retrograde root canal treatment
Concerns biofilm management and cleaning
implants as well as metallic and ceramic restorations

PerioScan complies with the latest regulations reflecting
the current state of the art. According to the regulations,
this product may be used exclusively for the described
application and by trained personnel only in compli-
ance with the applicable occupational safety regulations
and accident prevention measures as well as the pres-
ent operating instructions.
According to these regulations, users are obliged to use
only faultless materials, to ensure correct application
and to protect themselves, the patient and other persons
against hazards.
This system is not intended for operation in areas sub-
ject to explosion hazards.
Therefore, never use this system in the presence of
flammable anesthetics or gases.
