INFORMATION
These indications are only recommendations; the correct size for the
respective patient has to be found out and determined by the orthotist.
The left / right side indications refer to application of the joints on the wrist,
knee joint or ankle joint. When using the joints on the elbow, the sides must be
changed (right to left and left to right) because of the anatomical structures.
2.2. Assembly / Processing
CAUTION
Risk of injuries due to malfunction. Prior to handing the orthosis over to
the patient, the 17BK1 Static Corrective System Joints must be checked
for function and proper use.
NOTICE
Risk of damage as a result of incorrect heat treatment. The joint
must not be heated as this would destroy the surface finish of the mate-
rial. Hardened joint parts must not be subjected to any heat treatment.
NOTICE
Risk of damage caused by incorrect angle adjustment. The joint should
not be adjusted by means of the worm while being under full load (e.g. in
case of spasticity). Always make sure that the therapist, orthotist or user
provide for partial load relief in order to minimize the occurring leverages.
Adjust the worm of the lower joint section using the 3 mm Allen wrench to set
the desired joint angle (Fig. 2). The position of the adjustment lever indicates
the functional state of the joint:
Adjustment lever set to red (Fig. 3): The adjustment lever can only be set to
red when the joint is at the previously defined and set extension stop. If the
adjustment lever is set to red, then the joint is locked at the defined angle.
Adjustment lever set to yellow (Fig. 4): Free flexion movement with previously
defined, continuously variable extension stop is possible.
