INFORMATION
Depending on the application the joints are to be used individually or in
pairs. However, we always recommend using a medial support, e.g. an
integrated plastic joint. When used as knee or ankle joints, bilateral use
(joint pair) is always required.
1.2 Indications and effects
The 17BK1 Static Corrective System Joints are suitable for patients with
neurological and orthopaedic disorders in combination with joint contractures.
Neurological indications: Stroke, cerebral palsy, condition after paraplegia,
multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, craniocerebral injuries, dystrophies.
Orthopaedic indications: After total knee joint endoprosthesis, burns, ampu-
tation, after ligament rupture, fractures.
The 17BK1 Static Corrective System Joints are suitable for the upper and
lower limbs (wrist, elbow joint, knee joint or ankle joint). They can be used
for the fitting of adults as well as of children.
Specific indications must be determined by the physician.
1.3 Contraindications
• Structural contracture: Deformation – muscles, bones; ankylosis, ossifications,
fibrosis.
• Poor blood circulation.
1.4 General safety instructions
CAUTION
Risk of injury as a result of improper use. If 17BK1 Static Corrective
System Joints in positioning orthoses are also used for walking, they must
under no circumstances be subjected to vertical forces. This can lead
to malfunction of the joint up to loss of function due to structural failure
and cause the patient to fall.
A locking function or extension stop are not permitted; only free walking
without locking and stop function is allowed.
