Technical specifications

8895 SF/CPU Console port

The Console serial port is implemented as a DB-9 connector. This port can operate as a data
terminal equipment (DTE) or data communication equipment (DCE) device. Use the switch to
the left of the port to set the port to DTE (right) or DCE (left). Default settings for this port are
9600 bits/s, 8 data bits, no parity, and one stop bit.
Connection to TXD and RXD signals and GND is sufficient for the console serial port to fully
function. The Console port does not support inbound flow control; that is, the port does not
toggle control lines to indicate an input buffer full condition.
The following table lists the pin assignments for the Console port for both the DTE and DCE
settings.

8895 SF/CPU modem port

The Modem serial port is implemented on a DB-9 connector wired as a DTE connection.
To set up modem access, you need a DTE-to-DCE cable ( straight or transmit cable) between
the Modem port and a modem or terminal server.
The following table describes the required cable pin assignments.
