Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8800/8600 module fundamentals
DCT/DTE switch
The DCE/DTE switch changes the pin assignments on the Console port and allows you to
designate the connector as either DTE or DCE. For information about pin assignments for the
Console port, see
page 118.
Serial ports
The 8895SF/CPU module provides two serial ports for attaching modem and console devices.
The Console port provides terminal access to the 8895SF/CPU module to use the CLI. The
Modem port allows you to connect a standard modem for out-of-band, dial-up management.
For information about pin assignments for these ports, see
SF/CPU module Console port
Reset Button
Use the recessed Reset button on the module to perform a hard reset or reboot of the system.
To press the Reset button, insert a small object (for example, a paper clip) into the Reset button
hole.
USB port
The 8895SF/CPU module has a USB 2.0 port on the front panel to insert a USB memory device
for copying files.
Important:
This USB port is currently not supported.
Compact flash card
The compact flash card (CF) replaces the PCMCIA (PC) card. The PC card is externally
accessible while running Enterprise Ethernet Routing Switch 8800/8600 software.
Pathnames for files on the external compact flash card begin with /pcmcia (even though it is
not a PCMCIA device) to maintain compatibility with existing configurations and scripts.
