With transtibial amputees please observe the physiological knee flexion
during stance phase.
4.3 Cosmetic foam cover
The 2C10/2C20 connection cap provides a detachable connection between
the cosmetic foam cover and footshell and snaps precisely into the proximal
brim of the footshell. Please observe the following recommendations:
• Cut the foam cover to length, allowing for distal compression of about
1 cm for transtibial and of about 4 cm for transfemoral covers.
• Pull on foam, assemble the foot and mark the outer contours of the
connection cap pressed on the foot.
• Remove the connection cap and clean with 634A58 isopropyl alcohol.
• Glue together the cutting surface and the connection cap with 636N9
quick-drying rubber cement or 636W17 plastic adhesive.
• After the adhesive has dried (10 minutes), cut free space into the distal
foam to allow space for the upper part of the adapter (4). Sufficient space
for the moving adapter is important for proper function and to avoid noises.
• Finish the outer shape of the foam cover in the usual way with the foot
installed. Any compression of the foam by cosmetic stockings or SuperSkin
needs to be taken into account.
4.4 Settings and final assembly
Due to the high moments in the adapter area, it is absolutely necessary to
evenly tighten the adjustment screws of the tube adapter with a nominal
moment of 15 Nm.
Use a 710D1 Torque Wrench and secure the set screws with 636K13 Loctite
when finishing the prosthesis.
4.5 Maintenance instructions
• The entire foot with footshell should be inspected after the first 30 days
(4 weeks) of use.
• Inspect the entire prosthesis for wear during normal consultations.
• Replace the footshell if it is heavily worn.
