WARNING – Wood hearth extensions may dry out, crack, warp or become discolored.
LEGEND:
Non-combustible material such as 5/8"
Type X fire rated drywall (or equivalent)
Combustible material
The air flow area must be free from any obstruction to allow heat from the chase to be released.
NOTES:
•
A hearth extension is not required for any Ortal fireplaces, but it can be used as a design feature.
•
A hearth extension and/or non-combustible hearth zone is not required for the Ortal Traditional
series. The Traditional series may sit flush to any surface other than carpet without a non-
combustible hearth zone.
•
This 2" clearance also applies to a wood floor.
