The following diagrams show various finish applications.

Non-Combustible (Stone) Finish

LEGEND:
Non-combustible material such as 5/8"
Type X fire rated drywall (or equivalent)
Combustible material
The air flow area must be free from any obstruction to allow heat from the chase to be released.
NOTES:
•
For manufactured stone products, a minimum 2" recess is recommended. The clearance
requirements will be determined by the stone manufacturer. Natural stone finishes do not require a
recessed application and may be flush with the fireplace.
•
Only your Type X or equivalent material (like backer board) is permitted to touch the unit.
