User PC Connection
To simplify the number of LAN connections from the user's desk, it is possible to route their PC Ethernet
LAN cable via some Avaya H.323 IP phones. The LAN cable should be connected from the PC to the
socket with a PC symbol ( ) at the back of the Avaya IP Phone. The PC's network configuration does
not need to be altered from that which it previously used for direct connection to the LAN.
Those phones that include a PC pass-through port and also provide priority to phone voice traffic over
PC data traffic as normally indicated by an SW suffix on the phone name. In addition, some phones have
a PC pass-through port but do not provide switching priority. The table below summarizes the phones.

*The 4606, 4612 and 4624 can be upgraded to provide voice priority switching by the fitting of an
Avaya 30A Switch Upgrade Base to the phone. In addition this base also allows the phone to be
powered from a IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet source.
