NOTE: The engine must be removed from the traction
unit chassis and put in an engine stand. (See the

1. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
2. Remove the fuel injection pump. (See Injection Pump
Service in the Fuel System Repairs section of this
chapter.)
3. Disconnect the governor spring from the tension
lever. Remove the governor cover assembly from the
gear case. (See the Governor System Repairs section
of this chapter.)
