6.6 INSTALLING THE CONTROL UNIT

6.6.1 Choosing the Best Position for the Control Unit

The control unit should be mounted in an easily accessible position, the control unit will ideally be mounted in a
position where the display is clearly visible to the operator, i.e. in the control room. The unit is protection rated and,
therefore, may also be mounted outside, preferably in a sheltered position away from the elements. When mounting
the control unit ensure it is placed:
In an easily accessible position.
Away from direct sunlight (consider solar gain).
In an area where the radial or ambient temperature does not fall below or exceed –20 to +50°C (–4 to 120°F).
As close to the sensor as possible (max. permissible distance: 300 m/985 ft.).

6.6.2 Mounting the Control Unit

Figure 6: Control unit – Drilling template
NOTE: The control unit PCB is mounted inside the lid. Open the unit carefully and ensure there is sufficient slack
in the cabling when wiring the unit.
1. Undo the 4 off enclosure lid screws and carefully open the lid. This will reveal four deeply recessed mounting
holes, one in each corner (Figure 6 above).
2. Fix the control unit into position by passing a suitable M4 screw through each mounting hole and fixing these
firmly to the mounting surface.
