6.7 CONNECTING THE CONTROL UNIT

1 Mains power terminals
2 Sensor connector (CN3)
3 Earth strap (do not remove)
4 Alarm relays/4–20 mAconnections (CN4)
5 Clamp (securing the mains power cable)

6.7.1 Connecting the Sensor Cable to the Control Unit

NOTE: Keep the length of exposed screen to an absolute minimum (long screens, or 'pigtails', degrade EMC
performance).
Connect the sensor by routing the four-core data cable from the control unit through the cable gland nearest the
CN3 connector (see Figure 7). Refer to Sensor Cable Connection on page 18 for details on cabling.

6.7.2 Connecting the Alarm Relays (CN4)

Referring to Figure 7 above, pass a suitable sensor cable through the nearest cable entry gland and connect it to
the required contacts on connector CN4 (see table). Both relays are of the SPCO type and are fail-safe in operation.
CN4 CONNECTOR (TOP TO BOTTOM):
RELAY 1
RELAY 2
4–20 MA
6.7.3 Connecting the 4–20 mA Output (Option)
Referring to the table in section 6.7.2 above, pass a suitable cable through the nearest cable entry gland and connect
it to CON4 as shown.
