10 TROUBLESHOOTING

10.1 SAFETY INFORMATION

WARNING! – NON-ISOLATED EQUIPMENT
Do NOT electrically disconnect the enclosure from the stack (i.e. break the ground/earth connection) in the
presence of hazardous dusts. Circulating currents in the ground system could create an ignition hazard.
To disconnect the probe safely, remove the sensor from the stack, then disconnect the sensor from the power
source or control unit by unplugging the connection wire at the control unit (in the Safe Area).
Only once the sensor has been isolated (from the control unit), is it safe to disconnect the earth connection
between sensor enclosure and stack wall.
WARNING! – HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES
The control unit contains lethal voltages!
Always disconnect the mains supply before removing the enclosure lid!

10.2 GENERAL

Loss of Communication
The FFA can detect loss of communication with the sensor if, for example, the sensor cable is damaged.
Symptom: If this occurs, the Warning triangle will change to RED. Relays and 4–20 mA output(s) will remain in the state
that was present before communication was lost.
Solution: Switch OFF power to the sensor, wait five seconds, then switch ON power to reset both control unit and sensor.
If this does not remedy the problem, check the sensor, control unit, and cabling for damage or water ingress.
Sensor not working
On new installations, ensure that the correct pin sequence has been followed for the sensor connections, both at the
sensor and the control unit (if necessary make a note of the wire colours in the table on page 20).
Solution: On existing installations, carefully check along the full length of the sensor cable for any signs of damage.
On installations where more than one FFA sensor is present, try substituting a known working sensor. If the problem is
cleared with the working sensor, it is possible that the sensor unit has a fault and should be returned to Goyen | Mecair
for evaluation and repair.

10.3 ALARMS

For information on resetting the system, refer to Factory Reset on page 25.
Running Checks Manually (from the Sensor)
1. Unscrew and carefully open the hinged sensor enclosure lid.
2. Add a jumper to link CK (see Figure 15 below). The health/alarm LED on the sensor PCB starts flashing GREEN.
