Instruments with earlier Option GPS modules can receive only GPS signals.
Instruments with later Option GPS modules can receive both GPS and GLONASS
signals. If your module has the GPS/GLONASS receiver, use the REFERENCE
menu to configure the module for the type of signal you are using.
How to determine which GPS receiver is installed in your instrument.
NOTE.
The SPG8000 must have firmware version 1.5 or higher installed in order
to view the receiver-type readout.
1. Press the SYSTEM button to access the SYSTEM menu.
2. Use the up (▲) or down (▼) arrow button to select SYSTEM : VERSION
INFO (H/W).
3. Use the left (◄) or right (►) arrow button to select the version display with
the ID field on the second line of the display as shown below.
If the ID value is 3015, then the later GPS receiver is installed that can
receive both GPS and GLONASS signals.
If the ID value is 3002, then the earlier GPS receiver is installed that can
receive only GPS signals.
Be sure to perform the Common Diagnostics Tests before proceeding. (See
page 21, Diagnostics tests.)
You can perform performance verification procedures individually, if needed.
1. Change the instrument to factory mode. (See page 19, Set SPG8000 to
Factory Mode.)
NOTE.
Although not all of the following tests need to be performed in factory
mode, they can be. If you are going to perform all of the procedures, or a
particular set of procedures, start up the instrument in factory mode at the start
of the first procedure.
Leave the instrument in factory mode until you are finished or the instructions
say otherwise.
2. Load the factory default preset. (See page 20, Load the factory preset.)
