6» Installing the Correct Probes
—38—
Different-sized devices may require a different-sized probe tip. For
the most-reliable performance, use the largest rubber cup outer
diameter (O.D.) possible for the target device as this creates
optimal vacuum suction and 'blow-off' pressure when picking and
placing devices.
The Probe/Tip Holder mounts directly to the pick-and-place (PnP)
head. If your system is equipped with a 3D inspection camera, then
you may need to use a tip holder with a diffuser disk to provide a
clean background for the camera image. For systems equipped with a
Coherix 3D camera, the diffuser disk is black in color. For systems
equipped with an UltraVim 3D camera, the diffuser disk is white.
Note: For tip sizes not listed, refer to the original manual that
came with your PSV7000. The older tips can be used with the new
holders.
The following illustration shows the basic components of a nozzle
assembly on a PSV7000 PnP head.
To install the correct tip assembly for your application:
1.
First select the largest Rubber Cup for your device, based on
outer diameter. The following table lists the available rubber
cups along with their corresponding part numbers.
