    1. Overview MFR SERIES Web-Based Control is a web-based application that gives you free access to all MFR series control settings such as System Settings, Input and Output Settings, Tally Settings, Remote Control Button Assignments, and crosspoint switch settings. Without the need to install software, the system can be controlled using the web browser of a computer connected to the main unit.

    2-2. Connection There are two ways to connect the MFR series main unit to a PC.  Connecting the main unit to a PC through a hub IMPORTANT Use a straight-through LAN cable. PC-LAN (or TO PC) Devices such as Multi Viewer, etc.

     PC network settings For details on the PC network settings, see the operating system operation manual. 2-4. Connecting to Web-Based Control This product has been tested with Internet Explorer 8. XGA (1024 x 768) screen resolution is recommended. If the main unit is rebooted, the web browser should also be restarted. Open a browser (for example, Internet Explorer) and connect to the LAN (TO PC) port address.
  • Page 11 IMPORTANT The MFR unit IP addresses, login user name and password described above are default settings. If any of the settings have been changed, use the new ones. To change settings, see Sec. 5-2. "MU Settings" for the Main unit, and Sec. 9-3-1. "Network Settings"- PC-LAN for the MFR-TALM unit, respectively.

    3. MFR Main Unit Page Configuration On the MFR series main unit Web-Based Control screen, there are three buttons: Crosspoint Status, All Files, and System Settings in the left pane. [Crosspoint Status] [All Files] [System Settings] Navigation Tree Crosspoint Status Displays each unit state, crosspoint information and the Crosspoint Settings page.

    3-1. Saving and Loading a File The Web-Based Control settings can be saved to a file, and the saved file can be loaded into Web-Based Control.  Saving a file Save Open the page and click the Save button. The File Download dialog box, which prompts you to open or save the file appears.

    3-2. Redundant Processor A secondary CPU can be installed on an MFR Series main units (excluding MFR-1000/1616/ 1616A) to configure CPU redundancy. An active CPU controls the system and the other CPU monitors the system. The CPU usage state (which CPU is active) can be checked by monitoring through Web-Based Control.
  • Page 16 When the CPU is switched, a dialog appears, prompting you to restart the web browser. Restart the web browser. When the secondary CPU is activated, the following message appears. IMPORTANT The secondary CPU, when activated, indicates a failure has occurred on the primary CPU. Contact your FOR-A reseller.

    4. Router and Tally System Settings Router System Settings and Tally System Settings are used to establish the system. Refer to Sec. 3. "MFR Main Unit Page Configuration" for details on how to display pages. 4-1. Router System Settings This page changes the signal name, and set the Lock and Inhibit settings. 4-1-1.
  • Page 18  Category Settings This page allows you to categorize Sources and Destinations, which allow sources and destinations to be selected via the remote control panel Category settings (Tenkey function) Set (Source or Destination Name) Category colors in the Name and Color column on the right side of the Category table.

    4-1-2. Destination Name Clicking Destination Name in the tree displays the Destination Name page.  Renaming a Destination Name Input a channel range (e.g., 1-20, 21-40...) in the Destination Name No. entry box in the upper left side of this page. Enter name(s) you wish to rename under Name (ASCII) or ID Name (Kanji).

    4-1-3. SystemSize / LevelName Clicking SystemSize/ LevelName in the tree displays the screen that allows you to enter the System Size and Level Name settings. Select numbers for the following parameter listings under SystemSize. Parameter Description Level Allows you to select the number of Levels used within the range 1 to 8. Destination Allows you to select the number of Destination channels.

    4-1-4. Lock Destination The Lock Destination page allows you to enter LOCK mode (LOCK OTHER or LOCK ALL) for destination settings, respectively. Parameter Description Lock Type Allows you to select the Lock type. LOCK OTHER Allows you to disable operation in all devices except for devices or group members using Unit or Group ID numbers.

     Setting and Releasing an Inhibition Double-click a crosspoint cell. An X mark will be displayed in the cell. Click the Send button to inhibit the setting. In the same way, click the cell where an inhibition is applied. The X mark disappears. Click the Send button to release the inhibition.

    Specify the salvo number (in the range from 1 to 100). Input a salvo name if necessary. The salvo name can be freely specified, and the specified name is displayed on the remote control panel salvo button. Select the crosspoints to save as a salvo. The MFR-5000/8000/3000 allows you to save up to 15,000 crosspoints and MFR-1000/1616/1616R/3216/3232/1616A up to 5,120 crosspoints.

    4-1-9-5. Switcher Input Channel (MFR-3000/5000/8000 only) Input channels in the switcher (HVS-100/110/390HS/2000/6000) can be remotely controlled by assigning them to MFR logical sources. Select HVS-390HS in the Device Select page to display the page as shown below, in which switcher source signals can be assigned to MFR logical sources. The page shown as below is an MFR-5000 page.

    4-1-14. Build Settings The Build Settings page allows you to set up Main Unit links. (Not supported by MFR-1000.) The Main Unit Link feature provides two link types: Parallel Link and Expanded Matrix. The figure below shows an Expanded Matrix setup. Note that MFR-80000/1616A units support only Parallel Link mode.

    4-2. Tally System Settings The Tally System Settings page allows you to set tally control settings. (Not supported by MFR-1000.) IMPORTANT If MFR-TALM is configured in the system and is assigned to a Tally Control Unit in the MU Settings page (see Sec. 5-2), the Tally System Setting page cannot be accessed from the Main Unit Web-based Control.

     Device Output/Color Settings Clicking a button under the Device Output/Color cell displays a dialog box as shown below. Selects Destination or HVS Color. Destination: Specify a device and destination and click OK. HVS Color: Select a color and click OK. Devices and channels are indicated by the names set for switchers and channels in Sec.

    4-2-3. Re-entry The Re-entry page allows you to set the connection relation settings when a signal output from the system is re-input to the system. Parameter Description Output Selects the Output channel. Input Selects the Input channel. DPView Selects the name to display on the UMD or MV window. Reentry link: Traces back and displays the original source.

Click the Multiple Select button, then click or drag to select multiple channels.

    5. Main Unit Settings Click the System Settings button to display the tree. The Unit name and Unit ID of the connected device are displayed in the tree, for example, as “[10]MFR-5000(MU)”. Clicking the Unit name or the + icon expands the tree, and display the main unit setting pages in the tree.

    5-2. MU Settings The MU Settings page allows you to change the Main Unit network settings and reference signal settings. If a MU reboot is needed after changing settings, a dialog appears and prompts you to reboot the MU. MFR-LAN2 Reboot the main unit after changing the setting. Subnet Mask Allows you to set each CPU subnet Mask. Changes are applied after restarting the main unit.
  • Page 52 <Alarm Connector> Allows you to select items used for the Alarm1 and Alarm2 outputs. When two or more items are checked, an alarm outputs if a failure occurs in any one of the items. FAN (*1) Fan alarms are output if any failure occurs in any cooling fans (including power unit cooling fans).

    5-3. Slot Status A Slot Status page as shown below appears for MFR-5000/8000/3000 main units.     5-4-2. Audio Output Settings (MFR-16ADAO/16AAOEX/8AAO) Click anywhere on the Output Slot table to display the Available Input list (MFR-16ADAO only) and Slot Labels in the center of the screen. Audio signals in the Available Input list can be used for physical audio sources. Audio source and destination logical assignments can be performed in the same way as for video signals.

(Setting range: -10 dB, 0 dB, 4 dB, 8 dB) Gain Allows you to set the gain for the analog output. (Setting range: -20 dB to 20 dB) * However, for an 8 dB level setting, the setting range is -20 dB to 16 dB, since the maximum output signal level is 24 dB.

    5-5. RS-422 Settings (MFR-16DTIO) The RS-422 Settings page is available for the MFR-5000/8000 main unit only. Refer to the "MFR-5000 or MFR-8000 Operation Manual" for details on RS-422 Data I/O cards. 5-5-1. RS-422 Communication Settings The Slot Status table at left displays the list of MFR-16DTIO card locations. (A warning message appears if an MFR-16DTIO card is installed in an invalid slot.) Refer to the table below to perform RS-422 communication settings.

    5-6-1-6. Alarm Parameter Description Reset Mode Selects the alarm reset method. None: No alarm reset (Alarms are cleared when video is recovered.) Manual: Uses Reset Now on the GUI to reset alarms. Time: Alarms are reset when the set time (Reset Time) has passed. Reset Time Sets the alarm duration time if Reset Mode is set to Time.

    5-6-4-1. Loading a Layout At first, click Layout1 (with 16 windows) to load the base layout. Click Layout1 at right. Click the left arrow. Gearbox Settings Page The Gearbox Settings page allows you to set conversion, synchronization and delay for gearbox features in optional MFR-8SDIGB / MFR-8SDOGB (for MFR-3000) and MFR-16SDIGB / MFR-16SDOGB (for MFR-5000/8000) cards. Note that two gearboxes are available by MFR-8SDIGB / MFR-8SDOGB cards (MFR-3000) and four gearboxes by MFR-16SDIGB / MFR-16SDOGB cards (MFR-5000/8000).

    IMPORTANT If changing both MFR-LAN and PC-LAN settings, before restarting MFR-TALM, click Send, then OK on the pop-up dialog. Saved settings are applied the next time Web-Based Control is restarted. (Restarting the browser without pressing OK on the dialog fails to save the settings.) To apply settings in such case, close the browser, wait several tens of seconds and login once again to the MFR Web-based Control.
