Temporary shutdown

NOTE:
In order to maintain possible warranty
claims in the event of a temporary
shutdown of the CHP module, the plant
operator shall protect the module by
suitable preservation measures.
8.1.1 Shutdown for a period of less than 6
months
The following preservation measures will become
necessary in the event of a CHP module shutdown for
less than 6 months:
check the corrosion-preventive additive/anti-freeze
concentration and adjust it to -20 °C, if necessary
check the cooling water pressure and adjust it to
1.3 bar, if necessary
exchange the engine oil for the same quantity of
fresh oil and change the filters
crank the engine several times with the help of the
starter
unscrew the spark plugs and preserve the cylinder
combustion chambers with engine fogging oil
thereafter; then reassemble the spark plugs
close the air intake openings at the air filter box as
well as all supply and extract air openings
close the exhaust gas line and the condensate line
downstream of the module
shut off the gas supply at the ball valve

8.1.2 Shutdown for a period of more than 6
The following additional measures will become nec-
essary in the event of shutting down the CHP module
over a longer period or when separating it from the
building structure:
print out the internal control data
remove the internal CHP module starter batteries
and store them in a suitable place, where they can
be connected with a battery charger and duly main-
tained
ensure that the technical room of the CHP module
is kept free from frost and draught air all the time
during the shutdown of the module
depending on the actual conditions on site, the
module will have to be fully covered, although it
must be possible to remove the cover for interme-
diate inspections without any problems
empty the oil tanks and dispose the oil (should the
decommissioning date be known well in advance,
the oil reserves can be restricted to such quantities
that the oil level is close to zero at the time of the
decommissioning)
Measures during the decommissioning period:
visual inspections every 6 months to detect possi-
ble leakages at the CHP module
in addition to that, the engine must be cranked
several times with the help of its starter; this re-
quires the re-installation of the starter batteries and
the removal of locks and lids at the relevant open-
ings; return the module in its original state after the
cylinder combustion chambers have been pre-
served accordingly
Should the CHP module be used again, its complete
re-commissioning will be required. This will apply
especially in cases, where the CHP module has been
separated from the building structure and/or where
comprehensive reconstruction measures have been
carried out at the CHP module periphery. Additionally,
staffed trial runs over several hours are recommend-
ed.

NOTE:
The preservation measures will not en-
sure the permanent and defect-free
functionality of the module.
